Wild at Heart Press is looking for true stories for their upcoming charity anthology, For the Love of a Mustang: True Stories About The Mustangs Who Changed Us. Mustang advocates, trainers, photographers, rescuers, adopters, or anyone else who has had their life touched by a mustang is encouraged to submit their story.
We want to hear about the mustang that made you question everything, the herd that turned you into an advocate, the mustang that stole your heart, got you through a period of grief, or encouraged you to level up. We want the life lessons learned from mustangs and to hear about the mustang you rescued (that really rescued you).
Funny, sad, heartwarming, emotional…we want it all!
Submission Guidelines
- Submit your story to wildatheartpress[at]gmail.com by July 1st, 2026.
- Submissions may be in a Google doc or attached in a Word document.
- Submitting a story does not guarantee publication. Edits may be requested at the discretion of the publisher.
- Word Count: Stories should be under ~5000 words. Poetry and flash fiction are accepted.
- All stories must be true and factual.
- No AI, except for grammar and spelling.
- Authors may include a 3-5 sentence bio, including links to social media/website.
- Payment: Each author will receive a paperback copy of the anthology. As this is a charity anthology with all profits being donated quarterly, no additional payment will be provided.
